The Project
The web consultancy Cantilever asked me join the BPC redesign with a specific role in mind: to help bring a logical architecture to the organization's website, and to build off that flow to create a variety of concepts, wireframes and prototypes to explore with the client. This collaborative work led to developing the site's new navigation, plus page structure and hierarchy across a large content offering.
Information Architecture
A flow to guide the team and project
As a building block for the project, my work started with developing the architecture and flow for the website redesign. After gaining a deep understanding of the content and messaging for BPC, I created and presented multiple approaches. This guiding document got designers, developers and client stakeholders on the same page, allowing us to move forward with confidence.
Concepts
Presenting a variety of creative approaches to communicating the organization's focus areas
With an architecture in place, we moved to brainstorming approaches for the website experience. This exploration phase allowed me to quickly iterate on concepts and share with the BPC team for feedback. Ultimately, this moved us to an approved concept that I could extend to all pages of the site.
Wireframes
An extensive set of desktop and mobile wireframes to set up the design phase
Finally, I prepared a full set of desktop and mobile wireframes, carrying the final approach through to the home page, policy areas, content archive, articles, calendar, team, podcasts and more. I then coordinated with the design team, who applied a new design system to the wireframes to set up the development of the site.
