Eric Miller Design has been nominated in the 17th Annual Webby Awards in their new category Car Sites and Car Culture for our work on Vanderbilt Cup Races. This site was also recognized last year as an Official Honoree in both the Sports and Automotive categories. We are excited to see our site nominated along with a number of popular sites including Road and Track, The Camry Effect, Driven and Globe Drive.
The Vanderbilt Cup Races were the first international road races in the United States. They were held on Long Island, NY for six years starting in 1904. The races were organized by William K. Vanderbilt Jr. and were the greatest sporting events during that time period. Spectators showed up in unprecedented numbers, often resulting in crowds of over 250,000 people. The website is an online museum covering the historical races, as well as a home for current news and events surrounding car racing.
